What is running, and what stopped.
Every tool here will eventually be retired or replaced. When that happens it does not disappear — it moves down this page with a date and a reason, and stays there.
Why this page exists before it is needed
This category is full of tools that were quietly switched off. The free website grader that built somebody's mailing list, the checker that was acquired and shut down, the audit API that stopped answering. Nothing warns you; the URL simply stops working.
Three things, stated plainly.
1. No tool is removed without appearing here first, with the date it stopped and the reason it stopped.
2. A retired tool keeps its page. Links to it keep resolving. The page says what it did, when it ran, and what to use instead if anything.
3. If a tool is retired because it stopped being worth running, this page says that, in those words. Not "sunset", not "graduated", not "evolved".
Published and checked every morning
An automated check runs against each of these daily and disables anything that stops responding correctly, so a broken tool cannot quietly keep taking money. The date is when it was first published.
Why twenty-seven finished tools are being held back
They exist, they run, and they are not listed. Publishing a tool is a promise to keep it working, and eleven promises is roughly what one person can keep while also building. Shipping all thirty-eight would produce a catalogue where most entries slowly rot — which is the exact failure this page exists to avoid.
Some of them will never be published, because on inspection they duplicate a free tool that is better maintained than anything a one-person studio can offer. That is a reason to stop, not a reason to ship and hope.
Nothing has been retired yet
This section is empty, and that is not an achievement. The catalogue is new. Nothing has been running long enough to have earned the right to be called durable.
When the first entry appears here it will keep its own page, and it will read the way the live entries above read — a description, a date, a reason — not a greyed-out tombstone.
